My Official Gingerbread House
While we were at Skyler's parents for Thanksgiving we headed to the tabernacle to check out the gingerbread display.
This year I made my first official gingerbread house for the display. Skyler's mom makes a gingerbread house for display every year, since we live close she asked if I would like to make a house to go with her display this year, so I went for it.
And here it is!
Dena's last years display was the Polar Express. We were still living in Idaho so I made little fondant kids to sit in the seats of the train and sent them to her, that was the extent of gingerbread experience.
Now she still did do all of the hard part, she cooked all the gingerbread and brought it to me to decorate. I was so excited to get it decorated and put together. I actually decorated all the pieces separate before it was put together. When it was time to but it together I realized that it is to humid here and my gingerbread had softened so much I couldn't but it together...or it would claps. So Dena had to come pick up my house and take it to hers to harden it up and put it together. So....I was only able to decorate the house. Dena put it together, built the porch and did all the finishing touches that made it so cute... so I'm not even sure I can call it my gingerbread house, but I did have fun decorating it(and don't worry it doesn't even compare to her incredible house).
Preston had lots of fun just running around the building while Skyler chased him, not sure he even ever looked at the gingerbread houses.
The Christmas display theme was Picture a Christmas, so our theme was picture a Thomas Kinkade Christmas. So Dena not only made her house but she made the chapel, the horse drawn sleigh, and the ice skater on the pond.
This is Dena's House. Look closely there's a grand piano inside and a christmas tree. And yes even super cute wall paper.
And mine...Thanks to Dena for letting me be a part of her display this year. I had fun even though It probably ended up being more work for Dena than she thought. But once again she made a very beautiful gingerbread house display.
