A {Quick} August Recap

We are just going to do one giant recap of the month of August in pictures.

Because I can't believe September is already half over.

We started off the month in Kansas City. Ryan went through the temple, so we all met in KC to go through with him (we all made it but Shane and Sadie). And for another related update....Ryan left more his mission 2 weeks ago. So crazy! So for any of you going to conference in Salt Lake this October, be on the lookout for him!!

We have this cute little park downtown that had these little old rides. It's such a cute place. So we finally took the boys for the first time and let them ride the rides.

Discovered bubble snakes. And how super cool they are.

Turned our water table in a sand box. Score! Seriously, how many ways can we use this table?...we love it!

Headed to the Iowa State Fair for our first time. I took like 5 pictures....boo. But it was fun! Lots of animals, food and fun! Although we aren't bigger eaters around here, so we didn't do much eating. And I'm probably the only person at the fair that packed a lunch for my family...hahaha. But we did get a strawberry funnel cake. It was yummy!

Headed to Skyler's parents the middle of August for Dallen and Jacee's wedding reception.

Our Year In Review {2013}

January- Preston turned 3
February- My 24th Birthday, and an adorable Valentine's shoot with my little boys
March- Spring break in Council Bluffs (Omaha) and Disney on Ice.
April- Weekend in Kansas City welcoming a new nephew, Nate. Week at home in Kansas.
May- Jake and Chanel's wedding in Rexburg (flew home with my boys {solo}). Mother's Day.
June- Father's Day. Grandma Grover passed away. Skyler finished 2nd year of Dental school.
July- Wesley turned one. Vacation in Idaho. 4th of July. Visited Shane & Sadie in Nauvoo.
August- Headed home for a KS vacation. Stopped in Kansas City at the Andersens for the weekend. And most importantly, celebrated our 5 year anniversary!
September- Attended our 1st Iowa Hawkeye game. Phoxay and Michael's wedding.
October- Halloween with our little farm boys. Halloween dinner at the Romriells.
November- Skyler shot his first deer (with his new bow). Thanksgiving in KS.
December- Skyler's 28th Birthday. Christmas with the In-laws.

Wesley {12 Months}

12 Months we have enjoyed this little guy in our family, and can't even remember what it was like without him. He just squeezed right in and stole our hearts.

I set Wes down to take pictures and he grabbed the eraser and went to town. I guess that was his way of saying I'm done with these (good thing it was our last month).

12 Months:

He is officially walking. Started 3 or 4 days before his birthday.
He's starting to dance every time he hears a beat.
Figured out how to make "little indian" sounds with his hand over his mouth.
....As well as sounds with his tongue. His way of communicating I guess!
Loves to clap, and gets so excited when you clap for him.

Wesley {11Months}

Here we go again with our monthly update. They seem to be sneaking up on me faster and faster.

Mr. Wesley Glen is growing up.

The big # 1 is only a few short weeks away. And I say this every time but seriously, can you even believe that?

11 Months

Weight: 21lbs (45%) I know, not as big as you thought huh? I was very shocked (and the Doc). She thought he maybe was squirming around to much to get an accurate number...who knows?
Height: 71cm/ 28" (10%) Another shocker. We're not short people (not tall either) Hopefully he goes through a little growth spurt.
Head: 44cm/ 17 1/4" (5%)...tiny little head I guess:)
Standing on his own, for pretty much as long as he wants.
Loves the baby food in those squeeze pouches. He doesn't know how to squeeze them so he just sucks the food out all on his own. Works perfect!
Has his 2 bottom teeth and is currently working on 4 tops...yeah, total torture.
Sleeps {BAD} very bad, I tell you. We're hoping it is because of the ^previously mentioned^ teeth. Wakes up at 12:45ish, 2ish, 4ish, 6:30ish. Yep, another torture... but mainly for me :(
Thankfully takes 2 great naps during the day... keeps us all sane.
{LOVES} loves, loves ~~fruit~~ (all food). grapes and watermelon are his favorites. And went to town on his tomatoes last night. Although, that's not a fruit in my book.

Wesley {10 Months}

Wesley is 10 months old.

I kind of can't believe to he is almost a year old

....so crazy, right?

Pulls himself up to everything and stands there one handed. Yeah, he thinks he's pretty cool. Here's to hoping he's not walking in a month:( He already has enough bumps and bruises from furniture.
Wesley still has not a met a food that he will not eat.
Climbed stairs for the first time in KS. We don't have stairs in our home so I'm not so sure he will remember that he knows how
Sleeps on his stomach. I lay him down on his back and the second I lay him down he arches his neck back and turns to (kind of) his side. When I check on him he is on his stomach (He is my mini-me)
Sat in a shopping cart for the first time ever. He usually is sleeping in his car seat by the time I get to the store and since he wasn't I thought I would let him experience the grocery store on the next level...loved it!
Met his uncle Lane for the first time ever and of course....loved him!
Started saying Mama...it's about time right? We tried to get him to say Grandpa while we were in KS and he actually says "something" that sounds just like it. So we will go ahead and say he says Grandpa:)

During our {LONG} journey to Idaho we did many things to entertain the boys....such as

Wesley {9 Months}

Wesley is on the move this month.

He officially goes forward and is getting faster each day. None of the fake crawling stuff. He is up on his hands and knees doing the real deal. Preston never "real" crawled, so we think it's pretty neat. Not only does he go forward...he all the sudden realized he could pull himself up to things. He loves to stand. He doesn't even need to be moving...just standing! The first week he made this discovery he had a couple bruises on his head;) He's getting the whole balancing thing down now so hopefully that will save him from a few more spills.

His big change since 8 months you might ask? The hair...you knew something was different didn't you. His new haircut made him look oh so handsome. Besides that he is still our {HAPPY} and smiley little Wesley that we love all too much:)

Becoming more playful with Preston, which is so fun to watch!
Got his First {REAL} Haircut
Broke through his first 2 teeth on the bottom
Stopped the whole squawking business...thank goodness.
Makes noise when you make noise (If someone is yelling, he will yell right along with them)
Last month we mentioned he might be thinning out...that must have only been for the week cause I haven't noticed a difference anymore. And we missed our check-up at the Doc office so I'm not really sure on his real weighed at the moment...(Yep, I'm a slacker)
Still doesn't sleep through the night :( But at least he gets in two good naps
Eater of ALL things edible...and not edible. He will put any and everything in his mouth.
Discovered his tongue and sticks it out for long periods of time and wiggles it around...so cute!!

Wesley{8 Months}

I can't say that much has happened between 7 and 8 months...except he got cuter of course!

* One of Wesley's little teeth finally broke through the gums...the day of his 8months mark!

* Still moving backwards, but now he sticks one of his legs out to the side to stop himself and prop him back up to sitting position.

* Continued his way up the size ladder by moving on to size 4 diapers. He has a big baby bum;)

* He is such a laid back baby. He sits on the floor or lounges in his swing and just observes life around him.

* He has taken a liking to the horse, yep "The Horse". He loves to ride the horse and listen to it sing. Then he cries when you take him off of it.

* Last month he developed the squawking business but this month he actually learned how to use the squawking to get what he wants...or at least try to get what he wants.

* We think he might be thinning out a little(in his face)...like so little you probably can't really tell but every once in a while we notice it. So we'll see how that actually plays out, cause I was a chub till I was like 4.

The big 8 Month mark landed on Pi Day...3.14{That would be the reason I squeezed the little Pi sign in the date on the board!}

Wesley {7Months}

Valentine's Day marked 7months for our chubby little love bug.

* He is more in love with bath time, kicking and splashing like a little fish the whole time.

* Eating lots(if you can't tell) & loves to munch on those cereal puffs and yogurts drops.

*Started this squawking thing to get everyones attention. It was so funny the first few times he did it, now it's just LOUD!

*He is on the move...BACKWARDS. We find him in all sorts of places, but mainly up against walls and under tables, whatever stops him first.

* He thinks it's hilarious when Preston bugs him. Just when I think Prest is doing something mean to Wes, I hear Wes bust out in laughter...not sure if that's a good thing.

* He says DADDA! I'm not convinced he knows what he is saying, but it sure sounds like it.
