{Wilson's} Orchard
Last weekend we wanted to get out of the house and celebrate Skyler going back to school. Ok, not really...We weren't really celebrating that, we were more like mourning that day:( Although it is a little easier to go back to school when you're half way done:)
We figured it was a perfect time to go pick some apples at the orchard. Now I did say perfect "time", not perfect weather. It was boiling hot and we were sticking to our clothes. But we beat the heat and filled our little bucket with some yummy apples.
So yummy, Wesley couldn't wait to eat them...
I'm biased of course, but I think my mom makes THE BEST apple pies. Growing up we would go to the orchard and pick lots of apples. Mom would use all the apples to make a million (ok, not a million), but enough apple pies to stock our freezer for the rest of the year. Yes, really... can you imagine? It was divine!
I was kind of bummed that I have been out of the house for more than 6 years and have never made my own apple pie. So I was totally stoked to give it a try. Skyler and I were celebrating our 5th Anniversary. So we stayed home, ate a nice dinner, and decided to bake us a homemade apple pie for our dessert. Now I have to say that I'm the FARTHEST thing from a master chef, so if something actually turns out in my kitchen, I must have used one awesome recipe.
And that I did, because this pie was hot out of the oven, and so stinkin' yummy.
I was so surprised that it actually tasted like my mom's pie (not as good of course).
And these pictures were taken with my phone, in my dark kitchen with crummy light, so let's just pretend that the pie looked delicious too ;)
