Craft Week

This year since Britt lives in KC we meet in the middle and did craft week at her house. I have yet to take pictures of the things we actually made. But here are a few pictures from the week.

Taking a break from painting Bree's room. Grandma would pull out her violin and the kids would put in their requests...they were loving it!

Little sneeky Presto got into Kade and Bree's Halloween candy and got himself every sucker he could find. Super Wes must not have been on the lookout at the time, cause Presto got away.

Everytime I vacuum at home Preston pulls out his horse and pushes it around like he is vacuuming. Britt left the house for a while so I pulled out the vacuum and the next thing I know Preston is behind me with this giant wooden horse ready to help. It was super funny because the horse was so heavy he could hardly move it. He kept saying wow, this horse is too heavy!

Dumpster Deals!!

Don't you LOVE it when you go to take your trash out and you find a SWEET piece of potential in the dumpster! I mean come on who would even throw this GIANORMOUS piece of artwork in the trash. (Still had wrapping on it and a $200.00 price tag...WHAT??) I know, crazy right? I was kind of in heaven as I tried very discreetly to LUG this large beast behind our building and into my garage before anyone saw me.

Trust me people, pictures do not do this thing justice...It's LARGE beyond belief, like when I stand next to it it comes almost up to my chest. So I probably could have done something extra cool with it if I had a LARGE house...but I don't, so it would have looked real silly in my living room with a GIANT family picture in it (Although can you imagine how cool it would be to have a life size family picture?)

So an extra large chalkboard in Mr. Preston's room was the next best thing. Turns out I LOVE IT...and so does Prest.

TOTAL COST = $25.00 (All supplies to make chalkboard & hanging tins)

Now can we all give a BIG{THANK YOU} to the kind of people that throw away extra awesome things.

Oh yeah, P.S. Last week I got a grill out of the trash because someone didn't want to move it with them...and yes, we already had a delicious BBQ with it!

Don't worry I don't really dig in the trash for these things, people just leave them laying by the side!!!

Crib Is Ready!!

Finally finished sewing the crib bedding, and I'm in love!! I must say it was way more adorable before I put the crib rail on...now the rail kind of hides the cute ruffles, but I'm still in love!

Still need to make one more rail cover...but I'm pretty sure this little guy won't be born with teeth, so I have a while to get that one done!

Now I have to give some major props and THANK YOU'S to Carol, my incredible friend that supplied all my fabrics(how nice is she?) And also my incredible Mom, when I had all my strips cut out I sent them to her to serge for me, cause can you imagine hemming ALL of those strips...NO WAY it would have taken my whole life. So my mom serged all the edges and sent them back to me to finish up! Couldn't have done it without you two.

It was quite the project for a crib that actually won't be slept in for several months, since the baby will be in the craddle, but if I didn't finish it before the baby got her I probably wouldn't have done it at all. SO HAPPY IT'S DONE! This room is coming together and I'm loving it, can't wait to share pictures soon!

Changes Are Happening

Well I decided that I'm already tired of what's in Preston's room and a new baby is a perfect excuse to re-decorate!! I'm changing things up...and I'm LOVING Navy blue and lime green right now so I figured if I made this sign and painted it a different color(that doesn't match right now) it might make me get on the ball and make stuff for the new and improved room(well... we'll see how much I can actually change on no budget) for now it may just be a dream.

I saw this sign for sale for bukoo bucks and fell in love with the saying. Skyler's dad gave me some scrap wood he had and we had ourselves an adorable sign for the brothers room for under $2.00...heck yeah, that's how we roll!

This little man is getting excited to be a brother...and LOVES Loves loves babies. Evertime he see's a baby he says Ahhhhh baby, cute baby! It makes me super excited for him to meet his little brother.

Im in love with my dresser

Ahhh it's finished, and I am in love! I still have the other matching dresser that I didn't do, but one day when our budget gives us the go ahead, it's getting a makeover too. Hop on over to my craft blog to see more pictures, hope everyone else loves it as much as I do!

Thankful Turkey

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, I can't believe how fast the last few months have flown by. To help the family(mostly me) be a little more grateful, we made a thankful turkey. A perfect family home evening activity for November.

Everyday until Thanksgiving we write on one of these little notes and slip it into "Chief"...that's what we named our turkey. Then on Thanksgiving day we "carve" our turkey and read all of the things we are so thankful for.

Two days into it and I am already so thankful for...Chief, he helps me remember to be more thankful.

Fun With The Sister!

Last week my sister Brittany and her kids came to Iowa for a visit. It was so fun to spend time with her and we are so lucky that she took the time to drive out to see us!

These sweet little cousins enjoyed each others company all week, chasing each other, playing with toys and just hanging out!

These pictures crack me up every time I look at them. Here we have Preston in the middle(the entire time not moving) giving crazy looks, while Bree and Kade make sure they strike a NEW pose for every picture snapped! We finally got a decent one.

After Preston and Bree went to bed Kade and I got to spend some quality time together. He helped me make cookies, played dress up, and then he just wanted me to take a picture of him striking a pose everywhere in the house (even under the end table).

What's a week with my sister without some sort of craft, right? We headed to the goodwill and it just so happened to be 50% off furniture day. We spotted this beast and with lots of convincing on Brittany's part, we made out with our new(and very used) table for $7.

We rushed home super excited and had this puppy painted within the next hour. We are very pleased with the final outcome, I mean who wouldn't be we spent less then $15 when it was all said and done and now I have a super cute blue table for my living room!

(Yay for sisters week! OK not really sisters week since Britt was helping me with my house the whole time, but one of these years sisters week will consist or just the two of us in some exotic location shopping and having the time of our lives...one day...one day very far away!)

I have seen these knitted monsters that I think are so adorable, I sadly enough do not know how to knit, I had the thought that I should learn for about 2 min. Then I realized it looked way to hard to conquer (Props to anyone who knits, I Think your awesome). I had to come up with some other way for Preston to have a cute little monster of his own, so I sewed him! Not as cute I know I know, but we still love him.

New Tie 2

I decided that Preston needed another tie because his bow tie that I made last week ended up looking super cute.

I still had some fabric leftover from the bow tie (but he can't have two of the same ties), so we switched things up! A real tie this time, and looking cute as ever. There's just something about a little man in a tie that is so adorable!

Clearly you can tell he didn’t want any more pictures taken, he was just teasing me!

New Tie

How handsome is this little man, I mean really do they get much cuter than this?

I saw these adorable bow ties and decided Preston definitely needed one for Easter. So I found some cute fabric and whipped one up. After I finished it I put it on Preston just to see if it fit, and sure enough it did. I realized how cute it was and decided it couldn’t wait for Easter, so he wore it to church the next day! I guess I’ll just have to make him a new one for Easter, and for every other outfit to match! Hopefully I can find Skyler a matching tie so my boys look super cute together in there new spring ties.

When I found out I was having I boy I thought to myself, there are no cute things you can make for boys…you can’t make bows, dresses, headbands, I could go on. Who was I kidding? There are tons of things you can make for boys, and I’m bound to make them all!

Jungle Quilt...A Lot Of Love From Grandma

Let me take a moment to say how incredible my mother is.

She has pretty much every hobby/talent known to man...honestly. She paints, draws, Published painting books, cooks, sews, decorates, skis, rides motorcycles,(This makes for one SUPER COOL grandma) cuts hair....I could go on forever but no need, I already know how amazing she is. Recently she decided that quilting wasn’t enough, so she decided to start designing and quilting her own quilts. So my lucky little Preston was the first to receive the FIRST original quilt design from Michelle’s Designs. Preston’s room has a little jungle fever going on so my mom decided to stick with the theme and make Preston a jungle quilt.

Check this baby out, So much detail, and so stinking cute.

All of the tails and ears of each animal stick out so Preston has little pieces to play with, and he loves them. He just can’t figure out why he pulls so hard and the tails still stay on!

She did an amazing job!

I would most definitely die for this pattern if I saw the quilt hanging in a store.(and I’m not just saying it because she’s my mom) I really am that IN LOVE with it!

A big thanks to my wonderful mother, You never cease to amaze me.

The Long Awaited Headboard

Last year when I was in Miami, Brittany and I made our way into the fabric store and found ourselves some cute fabric ON SALE! We decided that we both would get the fabric in the color that matched our rooms and make headboards. 10 months later, I dig the fabric out of closet and WA-LA…A, made myself a headboard.

I LOVE DECORATING, but for some odd reason our room isn’t cute and decorated. Ok, not so odd, obviously no one see’s our room so of course I am going to decorate the rest of the house first. So the room is still not cute, but… at least we have a cute headboard right? One day. . . . . …one day every room in my house will be cute, especially the master bedroom!

I had a different idea in my mind but I decided I needed to go simple or it would never get done.

Lane's Graduation

This past week, I went to Kansas for Lane's graduation. We had lots of fun, and now I'm back in school. I also have been working on these baby shower announcements for my sister-in-law, and I think they're pretty cute. I thought I would share them with you all! Hope you like them! Enjoy.

Riding Goldie and Making Crafts!

Last week, Skyler and I finished our semester, so we had a week off before I had to go back to school. Over break we went home to Kansas where we had fun with the family. While I was there, I started a project for the week. On our way home, we stopped at Skyler's grandma's house in Inkom where we rode horses and celebrated Easter. So here are some pictures of my project and the rest of our fun!
