We Are Home Owners {For the very first time}
WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!
I can hardly believe it. Our very first house and we couldn't be more excited.
And I have to be honest... I think it is well deserved.
I've had this ridiculous worry that everyone is going to judge us for every single purchase we make after we get out of school. To be honest, I wasn't even going to post about our house because I didn't want anyone to know. Then I slapped myself in the face and thought, HELLO...this is a huge deal for our family, and something I want to remember forever.
So...with that being said. My Husband runs one rockin' budget and he's darn smart about it. Yes, we really did just buy a house right out of school. And after 7 years of apartment living,
I really can say that we earned it.
So here's the story:
We had been house hunting (online) for months. Nothing was popping up in our price range or in the location we wanted to live. Clear back in February I had a friend message me that her friends house was going on the market that next day. {BLESSING #1} When I read this message and realized the house was RIGHT where we wanted it to be I knew we had to jump on it...it wouldn't last long. So I called my Mom who happened to be out on a walk, right in front of the house that was going up for sale. What did she do? She knocked on their door and asked if she could come in and check it out. :) Hah, awesome right? She did say she would come back later, but the people let her right in. She went through the house, snapped a few pictures for me, and told the owners we wanted it!!!
THEN she called me and said, "I think I just bought you a home" haha, WHAT???
I still can't believe how this all went down.
Now I have to say, I trust my Mother 100%, she did exactly what I would have done. I'm just so happy that she was there so fast to help us out.
I checked out the photos of the house and knew there were no comparisons to what we had been looking at the past few months. I texted Skyler, "Think I just found us a home", which I figured he wouldn't get until the end of the day. He called me just a few minutes later saying he was done early and coming home. WHAT?? That never happens {BLESSING #2} Because Skyler was now home before regular business hours, which meant he had plenty of time to make calls and get things squared away with banks and realtors. Yeah, he totally saved the day...I wouldn't have had the slightest clue where to begin without him.
Within the next 7hrs Skyler had it all squared away and our offer was accepted. Who does that? Buys a house without seeing it within hours. I know, crazy huh? {BLESSING #3} Why? Well because the next day the house was put on the market (even though it was unofficially/officially ours) and it had 3 offers. No joke. If everything wouldn't have played out the way it did that previous day, we wouldn't have gotten the house.
HUGE BLESSING I tell ya!
So there you have the saga of our very first and very fast house buying experience. We closed a few weeks ago. And check out these gorgeous trees that are blooming in our new yard as we speak.
It's no dream home, but it's totally my dream.
I'm super excited. A blank canvas. A house I can do anything I want to. You better believe that I've already been planning how I'm going to beautify it and make it our very own perfect little home! {See Below} Hehe!
My parents and brother have already spent hours at the house taking care of the lawn, painting walls, scrapping off popcorn ceiling....yeah, pretty sure they are going to be sick of us and our house before we even move in. But they are the sweetest most charitable people ever, so they just keep helping. {BLESSING #4}. I already don't know what we would do without them there...and we're not even there.
To new adventures and new homes!
