Christmas Vacation 2010
Merry Christmas & Happy 2011...But before I get started with the new year I have to do a little recap on our Christmas vacation.(actually a not so little recap, feel free to skip around... or just skip the whole thing!) For Christmas this year we drove home to Kansas. We got there on the 18th at 4:00am. We headed to bed and tried to get a few hours of sleep to prepare us for a very eventful week!
To start the week we had to take care of a few birthdays. The 17th was Phoxay's birthday (for those of you who don't know Phoxay she is kind of our adopted sister) The 18th was Lane's birthday, and the 19th was Skyler and Ryan's birthday. So we whipped out the candles...all 86 of them and had ourselves a party for 4.
I love going home during the holiday's, especially Christmas. My mom decorates the house like crazy, & it's always SO BEAUTIFUL!! I love, love, love Christmas trees, so getting to see all my mom's pretty trees is so fun. My favorite of all the decorations are the nutcrackers. My mom is an amazing artist and loves to paint nutcrackers. She has painted around 90 of them. This is one that she made for me when I was in High school.
So my love for Christmas trees combined with my love for nutcrackers means that one of my favorite things at home is the nutcracker tree, of course!
During the week, we had a gingerbread house contest. Three very different houses, but all three very neat. Can you guess which one won?
On Christmas Eve we all opened our pajamas, and to go along with them we got socks. Not just any ordinary socks...When we were little the whole family got matching PJ's and socks. The socks were made out of fleece and we all quickly discovered if you rub your feet on the carpet and then touch someone, you create quite the shock. We would spend hours shocking each other, we thought we were so cool. So this year my mom made us the same socks. Even cooler, she made them out of the exact same fabric as when we were little. So of course we had to reenact our game from 15 years ago. (Somehow Jake ended up opening the wrong socks so when you watch the clip just know that Jake was supposed to have "Boy" socks!)

Preston loved opening presents, a lot more than we thought he would. Actually, he would get so excited and put his hands in fists and start yelling with excitement.
Christmas morning was so much fun, like always. We had lots of fun spending time with the family, and reminiscing on old memories of christmas mornings. The only one missing was Britt. We missed you lots and wished you were there with us, maybe one year!
While we were there, Preston had lots of room to run around and discovered lots of new things.
1.) Walking-he started walking on Skyler's birthday and hasn't stopped since.
2.) Stairs- he thinks he has mastered them, Up & Down all day every day.
3.) Love for Pets-Pets don't come in the house, but when grandkids come home..they must really soften Grandma's heart.
4.) His Tongue- It's very cute and very entertaining. He better take advantage of it while we still think it's funny.
We drove back to Rexburg on Wednesday. I'm not actually sure how we even made it. As soon as we hit WY, the roads were awful the rest of the trip, but 18 hours later (4hrs more than normal) we were home! We love spending time with our family, and we missed everyone that we couldn't be with. We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas.

looks fun! sad I missed it. seriously how did you guys get on the wrong year? I was married first, Ha ha. Preston is moving like crazy, what a pro! Hope we can see you guys soon. Love you!
ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun. It's fun to read about what your famile does for Christmas. I think that our families do a lot of teh same traditions. I seriously love your moms nutcrackers!
