Snow {Day}

Finally...a {real} fun snow day!

Don't get me wrong, we have had lots of snow this winter. Little bits at a time. But since our average temp this winter has been -20+, we haven't even been able to go outside and play in the snow.

Until last week...We finally got a snow day that we could actually take advantage of!

It started snowing when we went to sleep. Snowed through the night and all the next day. It was a {what felt warm} 30 degrees and the snow was just too fluffy and perfect to not get out and play in.

Unfortunately we don't own a sled. So we bumbled up (as Preston says it) Wesley and put him in the stroller.

Trucked our way through the streets of covered snow.

The next day we headed out with friends (Hyrum & Jane) and we built a snowman. And when I say we... I mean "Me". The kids just wanted to play :)

Our sweet little snowman was so cute...until I had the genius idea to put Skyler's dentures on it. Then he became a little creepy.

But it had to be done.

Skyler & Chad (Hyrum & Jane's Dad) are both dental students.

It was a picture must.

I just LOVE the snow!!! And was so tempted to pull out my skis. And you know I totally would have if I wouldn't have been pushing a stroller.

I also love the hush that comes over the world when it's covered in snow.

So peaceful.

Baby It's {Still} Cold Outside

I was talking to my Mom on the phone and she said happily told me she walked outside barefoot in the 70degree weather today. So I thought I would post a few pictures to remind everyone that we are still freezing in Iowa. Drinking lots of HOT chocolate and spending way too much time indoors.

We are currently in a winter storm advisory warning for the next 24 hrs. Here's to hoping we actually get that foot of snow they're anticipating so we have something to play in (We only got like 2" the last time we were in a winter warning...lame).

We hope all of our friends and family are staying warm from the cold...or enjoying their pre-spring heat.

A {Fluffy White} Snow Day

A couple of the days we were in Kansas IT SNOWED!

So we pulled out the snow clothes, bundled up nice and warm and had lots of fun!

Preston was so excited to play in the snow and was talking about it all day. It took a long time to get him all dressed up. Finally when I laid him on the floor to put his boots on...he feel asleep.

After a short little nap we headed outside. I wasn't sure how much Preston would like the snow, and to my surprise HE LOVED IT!

Ahhh, that made his snow loving mom very happy!

Jake was the mastermind behind the sled ramp and got everyone to come out and help so it would be all ready for Preston when he got outside.

Important Announcement

Dun Dun Dun!!

We would like to make a very important announcement....

IT SNOWED!!!!!

Yay, finally we get to see a little snow around these parts of the world. Not a ton, but we will take any amount given to us.

Unfortunately we have not been outside to play in it cause Prest doesn't have snow clothes, but he does thoroughly enjoy stomping around on the little flurries of snow that cover the sidewalks.

Popcorn Ball Ornaments

Skyler's Mom sent us a package full of things to do for the 12 days of Christmas, last night was craft night! And it was the coolest craft, Dena always has awesome ideas!!

Preston loved putting the tiny kernels inside the ornament.

But once the kernels popped he was a little confused why he couldn't get them out.

We had lots of fun making them, Thanks for our fun crafts night Dena, such a clever idea!

And to top off the fun, we woke up to SNOW!!! Just enough to barely cover the ground....but will take it!

So we went out on the deck and played in the snow "dust"!

Skyler's Hiking Trip & Brooke & Preston's Fun Weekend

Last weekend Skyler and his brother Darren planned a little hiking/fishing trip to Palisades. Just a quick 2 days trip, Skyler was so excited to go. He walked in the door way earlier then expected on Saturday, I asked him what he was doing home so early and if he had fun, with a very sunburned very tired look on his face he said, NO! Not as fun as he was expecting....why you might ask, well take a look at this.

The mountains are still covered in snow, I guess he should have taken some skies with him!

June 18th...? Can you believe how much snow is still on the mountains!

He probably would have had lots more fun if he would have brought some snow shoes, and ice pick, and a sled! haha just kidding but maybe a coat would have been nice.

Skyler had lots of fun spending time with his brother, I guess they just could have done without the very steep strenuous hike up a mountain covered in snow!

While Skyler was gone we spent some time with Jake having lots of fun! Friday we spent the day at Grandpa Steel's house doing some yard work and Saturday we spent at the car show (which I don't have pictures of) and air show that was in town.

There is a guys in town that owns some extremely cool planes from the world wars that he has restored and fly's, so he has a little flight museum where you can come and check them out. He also puts on the air show every year, so we usually go and watch the planes fly and check out his museum.

Preston LOVED the planes and wouldn't stop pointing at all of the fun things he spotted. I guess he takes after my brothers, they are all very obsessed and very intrigued by airplanes....OK who am I kidding not just airplanes, pretty much anything that has a engine!

Thanks Jake for letting us tag along while Skyler was gone, we had LOTS of fun.

Snow Day!

On Wed. Preston and I decided that we needed to have ourselves a little snow day. Not because it snowed just because we love the snow and wanted so badly to play in it! So I got Preston all bundles up in his stinkin' cute new hat his aunt Farrah sent him for his birthday(I know it's not his birthday yet but it was so cute I couldn't resist). We headed outside and had ourselves some fun in the snow, Preston loved it and so did I. I made him a little snow chair and he sat in it and watched as I built a snow dragon, well pretty much just the tail of the dragon. When I finally got to the head I realized how old and awful the snow was for building anything, it just kept crumbling into pieces. So outside our house we now have a tail of a dragon...pretty cool! Every night I pray for more beautiful fluffy snow so we can get back outside and have some more fun.(And maybe put a head on our dragon)

Let it Snow!

--> I’m dreaming of a white Christmas …and I think we're going to get it! Last week we had BEAUTIFUL fall weather, but this week has been a different story.

--> We woke up Monday morning to SNOW, and it snowed and it snowed and it snowed, and I couldn’t be happier.

--> It snowed all day Monday, and a little on Tuesday, and even more today! OH HOW I LOVE THE SNOW.

--> And poor little Preston has a mother who thought it would be cute to put him in his snowsuit. He patiently sat while I had my fun taking pictures, what a sweet little boy!
